The late 20th century master Luciano Berio offers us a folk song cycle from more than half a dozen countries performed with the orchestra by fiery contralto Edith Dowd. Adding to this musical mosaic is Beethoven’s magnificent Ninth Symphony, proclaiming our common humanity with a full choir and an array of celebrated soloists.
