California Summer Music’s free masterclass series at Sonoma State’s Green Music Center features three performances by our talented young performers. Each performance is followed by a class where the master will show both audience and performer methods to use to improve the performance.
7/10: Robin Sharp, violin: As a native of California, Ms. Sharp is a solo performer, chamber musician, concertmaster, and teacher. She is currently on the Artistic Advisory Board of the San Francisco Chamber Orchestra and is also on the faculty of California Summer Music.
7/12: Hans Boepple, piano: Professor of Music at Santa Clara University (CA), where he served as chair from 1995-2007. Considered an artist who shows rich musicality alongside stunning technical command, he has appeared with many distinguished orchestras. In demand as an adjudicator, lecturer, and master teacher, Mr. Boepple continues to balance performance activities with those of a dedicated and successful teacher.
7/14: Wendy Sharp, violin: Wendy Sharp performs frequently as a recitalist and a chamber musician. In demand as a teacher and chamber music coach, she is on the Violin faculty of the Yale School of Music where she also serves as Director of Chamber Music.
7/19: Irene Sharp, cello: Ms. Sharp teaches at Mannes College and UC Berkeley. A student of Margaret Rowell, she performed in the legendary Pablo Casals master classes at Berkeley. She has also taught at the Meadowmount School for Strings, Bowdoin Summer Music Festival, and Indiana University’s String Academy
7/22: Carol Rodland, viola: Ms. Rodland is currently on faculty at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY. She also taught at the New England Conservatory, Berlin’s “Hanns Eisler” Hochschule, Arizona State University, and as guest faculty at the Juilliard School.
