Monte Rio Fireworks over the River aka the Monte Rio Fireworks and Parade of Lites is a one of a kind event. The atmosphere is very friendly and many families participate in the Parade of Lites. Basically, groups of people make a float (with lights!) and sort of do a little “bit” while floating past a cheering audience.

The next event at the Monte Rio Fireworks is the famous water curtain. Images of the American flag are projected on a curtain of water falling from the Monte Rio bridge. There’s nothing quite like it.

After the water curtain display, the fireworks immediately start and it is quite a good show, especially from the bridge. Being surrounded by redwoods and the Russian River makes it that much sweeter. The valley-like area amplifies the large ka-booms of the fireworks and just adds to the experience.
