Dr. Ian Campbell, Professor of History at UC Davis will speak about Russian expansion and Siberian identity. Campbell is a historian of pre-revolutionary Russia and an expert on Russian imperial power, particularly as it relates to Central Asia. His lecture will focus on Russian encounters, attitudes and experiences during the conquest of Siberia in the 16th and 17th centuries, as well as the complexities of Siberian identity.
