Sonoma County Fourth District Supervisor McGuire, the Sonoma County Human Services Department, and the John Jordan Foundation are working in partnership with Health Action, the Healdsburg Education Foundation, Healdsburg Community Foundation, and Healdsburg Chamber of Commerce to host a two part information session and workshop for local organizations to learn about how working with Upstream Investments can help them improve programming and build capacity. The first half of the workshop will provide an overview of the Upstream movement. The second half of the workshop will discuss elements of effective programming and the Portfolio application process.
Sponsored by the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors, Upstream seeks to eliminate poverty in Sonoma County and ensure equal opportunity for quality education and good health in nurturing home and community environments. The three primary strategies are:
- Invest Early: Whenever possible, dedicate funding and other resources to prevention-focused policies and programming.
- Invest Wisely: Ensure that policies and programming have the highest possible likelihood of success by selecting those that are backed by sound evidence.
- Invest Together: Work collectively across sectors to implement programming and policies that work to end poverty and disparity in Sonoma County.
