Stab binding was a popular form of book binding style in Korea dating from the thirteenth century. Sonoma County Museum welcomes all to learn this ancient sewn binding in this three-hour class. Students will make at least two books, starting with an easy and sewn one that can be used for a photo book or journal. Using unusual papers and threads, students can then try more complex stitching patterns and make unique books to treasure.

Emily Marks has taught book arts locally at the Sonoma Valley Museum of Art, the Petaluma Art Center, the Sonoma Community Center, as well as at the Focus on the Book Conference in Forest Grove, OR, and the Jackson Hole Art Center in Jackson, WY. She resides in Sonoma, CA.
