Start the New Year on the right foot! On January 1, 2016, Jack London State Historic Park will offer its third annual First Day Hike, part of a collaborative national fitness event with California State Parks. The First Day Hike is also the inaugural event to begin “Discover Your Call of the Wild,” a year-long series of events at Jack London State Historic Park marking the 2016 Centennial of Jack London’s passing. This fun and robust way to kick off the New Year with a healthy start is the first in a series of Fitness Hikes at the Park for 2016. Hike the entire trail or just a portion—friendly volunteers will guide hikers back at various points along the way. The moderately strenuous 8-mile/4 hour hike will wind through the trails, rewarding hikers at the top of the summit with sweeping vistas of Sonoma Valley.
