Not only is the small town of Windsor located just north of the Sonoma County Airport, which makes it a convenient place to stay, but it’s also smack in the middle of some of the best wine regions in Northern California. The town itself is in the Russian River Valley American Viticultural Area, and just a few miles to the north is Chalk Hill, Dry Creek Valley, and Alexander Valley. But be sure to spend some time hanging out with the locals in the town plaza, with it’s cute shops, trendy restaurants, and hardly any tourists at all.
