In its 17th annual edition, the Healdsburg Jazz Festival, nestled in the idyllic wine country in Sonoma County, leans in the direction of Latin American elements and the stimulating sounds of hard bop.

Tonight’s first set features: Pablo Ziegler Jazz Trio for New Tango
Pablo Ziegler, a musical ally of famed, late “nuevo tango” master Astor Piazzolla, has been the acknowledged heir to Piazzolla’s legacy, and has become a formidable jazz tango artist in his own right. His Jazz Trio for New Tango includes Hector Del Curto on bandoneon and Claudio Ragazzi on guitar.

Second Set features: Eddie Palmieri Latin Jazz Septet
Eddie Palmieri, Spanish Harlem born, of Puerto Rican roots, is an established “living legend”— and continuing dispenser of musical excitement of Latin Jazz, going back a half century to his NYC band La Perfecta, and has richly earned such recent awards as NEA Jazz Master and Lifetime Achievement award from the Latin Grammys. His Latin Jazz Septet includes the best musicians on the Latin jazz scene today.

The jazz festival, is running for 10 days from May 29th to June 7th, showcases rare appearances by a number of Brazilian artists. Hope to see you there!
